In Sierra Leone, the enrollment of girls in schools has always been lower than that of their male counterparts. Girl-child education has therefore become a more sensitive social concern and the Forum for Africa Women Educationalists (FAWE) is one of the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) helping the Government to increase the enrollment and retention of girls in schools.

In the recent years, semi-arid areas in Kenya such as Elgeyo-Marakwet have persistently faced the challenge of severe food insecurity. This paper thus investigated the role of traditional knowledge in food security among the Marakwet in Arror Ward. The study adopted human ecology theory which looks into patterns and process of interactions of human beings and their environment in relation to food production and food security.

EVALUATION OF PRODUCTIVE TRAITS OF NIGERIAN HEAVY LOCAL CHICKEN ECOTYPE SELECTED FOR SIX GENERATIONS THROUGH SELECTION INDEX

A multiple selection programme was designed and carried out to further determine the genetic response of productive traits of the Nigerian heavy local chicken ecotype (NHLCE) using selection index from fourth to sixth generations. A total of 270 pullets (23 week old) from a random breeding population of heavy local chicken ecotype were used for the study.
